London Underground 150 – Transport for London
2012 marked 150 years of the world’s first Underground Railway. I was approached by London Transport Museum to design a huge range of prints, products and gift collections, celebrating the anniversary.
‘Keeping London Moving’ collection.
A celebration of the iconic trains (and companies) that have carried passengers under London for 150 years and beyond. Working closely with the Museum’s experts and archivists, I created a full suite of illustrated trains and logos for use across a wide range of gifts, accessories and posters.

‘Blueprint’ ceramics.
A collaboration with The New English; This limited edition collection celebrates the now iconic designs that formed the ‘blueprint’ for London Underground. Using original plans, drawings and proofs from TfL’s archive, it features Edward Johnston's typeface and roundel, Harry Beck’s original tube map sketch and Charle’s Holden’s drawing for Chiswick Park station. Each piece is numbered and meticulously hand-gilded.

‘Metropolitan’ glassware.
The ‘Metropolitan’ collection is a collaboration with LSA glassware, celebrating the world’s first underground railway. I created an anniversary crest using redrawn elements from original Metropolitan engines and livery. Packaging was clean and contemporary, featuring crisp product photography and the distinct Metropolitan line colour.

‘Metropolitan’ craft ales.
Following a comment that the Transport Museum may be interested in an anniversary drinks collection, I suggested they collaborate with the (then emerging) Camden Town Brewery. The result was this 6 bottle set of limited edition beers, each named after a key station, engine or event in the line’s history.

Mapping masterpieces.
This limited edition print collection features six of the finest decorative maps from the London Transport archives. I designed packaging for this set, establishing a style for further sets to follow.
