AELTC Museum – Centre Court: 100 Years of Change Exhibition.
Centre Court, Wimbledon celebrates its 100th year in 2022. To mark the centenary, I was commissioned to design an exhibition which charts the role it has played as witness to huge social and cultural change, and the platform it has provided for progress.

Elevate and celebrate
Working closely on defining the brief with the team at AELTC we agreed the exhibition required a bold, unapologetic design and graphic language that would elevate and celebrate the line-up of players and people that collectively broke down boundaries, taboos, class barriers and often faced staggering adversity along the way.
The solution was to dramatically black out the gallery and fill it with bright, bold, colour drenched graphics, punchy headlines and short but sharp story telling. This is delivered by a set of bespoke, matt black light-boxes displaying stylised action shots of each player in their prime, overlaid with their story and inspiring quotes. To further reinforce the concept of breaking boundaries, I developed a graphic treatment for each image showing the players ‘breaking out of a box’.
The arrangements of light-boxes are punctuated by large wheat-paste style poster walls displaying yet more action shots of iconic players overlaid with punchy, powerful and positive headlines.
The result is dramatic, inspiring and fitting for the line up of pioneers, activists and game changers it celebrates.
