‘Hidden London’ collection – London Transport Museum.
Hidden London is London Transport Museum’s programme of exclusive tours and events at locations rarely seen by the public. This homeware collection was designed to coincide with the launch.
More than decoration.
One of the many distinguishing features of London Underground is its platform tiling designs. These patterns were designed to help passengers identify their destination. Guided by Doug Rose’s meticulous research, I redrew the patterns for use across a wide range of homewares and including a brand new ‘looped’ design for a set of plates.
Dinner plates and mugs are packaged in rigid boxes including redrawn destination names taken from the original tiles. The collection proved and instant hit with customers and visitors alike and the boxed mug set remains a firm bestseller in the London Transport Museum Shop.
